Orienteering
Orienteering
Orienteering is a competitive sport that combines navigation, strategy, teamwork, and endurance. Cadets race against the clock using detailed maps to locate designated checkpoints throughout unfamiliar terrain.
Success requires critical thinking, communication, physical fitness, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. Whether competing as beginners or experienced navigators, cadets develop valuable leadership and problem-solving skills while enjoying the outdoors.
How It Works
Step 1: Study the Map
Cadets receive a detailed map showing the course and control points.
Step 2: Plan a Route
Teams determine the most efficient path to navigate through the course.
Step 3: Find the Checkpoints
Using navigation skills and teamwork, cadets locate each checkpoint in sequence.
Step 4: Race the Clock
The team with the fastest time and most accurate navigation earns the highest score.
